Working towards #kindness

Snowline Colleagues,

On this final day of the work week, the focus of our ongoing efforts aimed at eliminating discrimination, hatred, and racism continues to be placed on building the processes and structures needed to support necessary outcomes as well as communicating to our stakeholders the results of feedback sessions and the progress being made from them.

A recurring theme in all of the feedback sessions has been the need for unity.  This concept is guiding the development of student and adult groups that will help lead our future work.  Look for more information about these teams, including more details about the purposes of them and how they will be used, next week.

Communication of the student and parent feedback that was received at the end of last week will be prepared by next week.  Transcription of the concerns and suggested changes from charts to electronic format is almost finished.  The feedback we receive at the additional student sessions (beginning Monday, November 27, 2017) and the second parent meeting (Wednesday, November 29, 2017) next week will be combined with what we have now to ensure that everyone has opportunities to be part of this important work.

It is not lost on me that this collective effort to make Snowline Joint Unified School District a better place for all students has gained momentum leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.  As challenging as some moments have been, I believe that through adversity comes strength.  We are becoming and will become a stronger community from this experience.  I am deeply appreciative of being connected with all of you.  I am thankful for the countless extensions of kindness that have been directed my way, a powerful gift that all of us can and should continue to give to one another.  As Ian Maclaren once said, “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”

Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.

Ryan Holman, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Snowline Joint Unified School District

Ryan Holman, Ed.D.
Superintendente
Distrito Escolar Unificado de Snowline

Local Control and Accountability Plan--LCAP for 2017/2018

The LCAP is an important component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Under the LCFF, all school districts are required to prepare an LCAP, which describes how they intend to meet annual goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities.  The LCAP is a three-year plan, which is required to be updated annually.

Snowline's LCAP has been developed to continue to serve and "ensure endless possibilities for all students through high levels of learning".  Through the input of staff and community members, Snowline has identified goals for all students across the district and generated actions and services designed to achieve those goals.

Please feel free to review the LCAP using the link below:
